A new trading market for electricity customers to sell and buy clean-generated electrical power at prices they can determine between themselves.
How this will impact Adelaide's carbon emissions
Solar power does not generate pollution. In future Australia will be able to benefit from its sunshine-powered electrical supply more significantly if the population can trade it between themselves and reduce the country's dependence on power generation systems that pollute our air.
Customers can trade on the existing power grid at prices they feel are fair for them. This has never been possible before. More jobs will be created to service this system and jobs on the grid will not be lost. People will not feel the need to go off-grid. Prices will settle down to a sensible level because it is in the interests of the customers.
Virtual Energy will initiate this market but existing energy retailers will be permitted to use Virtual Energy's trading system as well so that their own customers can choose to stay with them if they prefer. Political parties that allow the people to benefit from this market will receive favour from those customers. Virtual Energy recently won The University of Adelaide's eChallenge.
Voting has now closed for the Wildcard prize. Stay tuned to find out which project will be the 11th finalist.
